Speakers College 3 – 2020: On Icebreakers & audience interaction
Everybody talks about audience engagement and clients increasingly ask speakers to run an interactive session – but not everyone does it well. Some include paired sharing or ask for a show of hands. But that’s not enough to truly engage people.
Jackie Barrie is a copywriter, trainer, speaker and author. She knows that, sometimes, the best way to get your message across is in writing (on paper or on screen), sometimes it’s face to face (online or in person), and sometimes it’s through an activity that your audience undertakes.
In response to demand from PSAUK members, Jackie has compiled her tried-and tested icebreakers, energisers and games into a unique book, Experiential Speaking.
In this interactive session, participants will experience a range of Jackie’s exercises to help inject energy into the room and embed the learning for their audience.
Speakers can adapt and use these activities in their own seminars and workshops. Ultimately, by incorporating elements of experiential learning and gamification into their talks, speakers and trainers will appeal to more people and get more bookings.
Performance Tips for Speakers
Speakers are performers like stage performers and sportspeople. Like them, we get nervous, we get ill, and our physical wellbeing can impact on our speaking performance.
In this interactive workshop, Susan Heaton-Wright will share essential speaking performance skills, to ensure you perform to the best of your ability.
• Managing your fear so you can show the best version of yourself
• The power of warm ups before you speak
• Vocal health; how to look after your voice to ensure you can speak powerfully
By the end of the workshop you will:
• Have a checklist of requirements you need to deliver a great speech
• A power list of actions you need to do, in order to manage your nerves before speaking
• A warm up routine to ensure you are relaxed, focused and in the zone
• A Tool box of knowledge to treat your throat if you are unwell before speaking
Susan Heaton-Wright empowers individuals and teams to create impactful performances in business using the Superstar Communicator™ philosophy. She is an international speaker; the MD of award winning music company, Viva Live Music, podcaster and a former prize winning international opera singer.
